Most homes across the eastern suburbs built before the mid 1990s still have the original board. Rewirable ceramic fuses do not trip fast enough to protect a person, and there is usually no room left to add a circuit for a new oven, an air conditioner or a shed. We quote the job properly before we start, so you know what you are getting. A standard upgrade covers the board itself, the safety switches, the labelling and the compliance paperwork.
Most domestic boards are a one day job. Power is off while we work and we will tell you at the quote roughly how long that will be so you can plan around it. Larger homes, three phase supplies and boards that need the meter or the supply authority involved take longer, and we will say so up front rather than discovering it on the day.
It depends on how many circuits you have, the condition of the existing wiring and whether the meter box itself needs work. We look at the board, tell you what it needs and give you a price before anything starts.
